International Youth Dance Workshops!
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul” –Martha Graham
Dancing has been used all over the world for exercise, getting into shape, and for entertainment purposes. There are a number of great shows that showcase dance at its best; Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance to name a few. New styles of dance are introduced into society regularly; with the latest in popularity being the Harlem Shake.
Body Deja Vu is excited to announce our International Youth Dance Workshops. Dance is about expression; dance is about making a statement; dance is about you being you. These workshops are geared for Youth!! They provide a safe haven for kids to express themselves without being judged, they provide an environment where they can grow, and they teach the importance of self-esteem and self-worth.
Our workshops have a unique curriculum to help open the youth mind’s to the importance of diversity. We take music from all around world and splice them together and create a song that touches all corners of the globe. We then incorporate dance movements from Latin America, Brazil, Scotland, Turkey and a variety of other dance styles and blend them together to create a dance routine that the kids will learn and perform for their parents at the end of the workshop.
Through out the course we talk about self-esteem, self-confidence, self-awareness, and so much more. Dance becomes a therapeutic intervention for those joining the workshop.
Body Deja Vu has just launched a International Youth Scholarship Campaign. We will be awarding scholarships to the workshop as well as scholarships where the monies can be used for school expenses such as uniforms, books, and school supplies for families that may not be able to otherwise afford them. To help make this possible, we are asking for your help.
